...And some silliness I did last night. When I do these mixed media pieces (like my Late Nights series), I finish the ponies themselves on computer paper in marker because that grade of paper absorbs ink much more slowly than graphite or watercolor paper (marker paper is produced but can be quite expensive).
The final image is then carefully cut out and pasted onto heavyweight water color paper onto which I have already painted a background.
Anyway last night I was talking to and I had this cutout Octavia pinup sitting on my desk staring at me, so I placed her on a comfy pillow and a result was so eerily lifelike I just had to take a picture. Maybe in the future I will experiment more with cutout ponies!
Yeah, sorry, it was because I was having to mix all the colors from scratch with watercolor, it's hard to get that exact brown-gray shade without using a hex code.
Man, you do a lot more for these pictures than I imagined, which makes me respect your stuff even more.. and you get (at least temporary) pony cutouts form them, too? I could just imagine the scenes one could make with such-and-such pony cutouts strewn about in precarious positions irl...
